Pharmaceuticals, pathogens, and organic compounds in Arizona’s effluent...
cause for concern?"
This
is a land of limited water resources. We stretch our water supply by
"treating" waste water in order to reuse it. We discharge
treated water into waterways and use it to recharge aquifers. How clean
is that water? Are we contaminating otherwise clean water sources with
substances that escape our water treatment technology? Gail Cordy, of
the US Geological Survey, is trying to answer some of these questions
and looking for solutions, as well. The Verde River Citizens Alliance
invites Verde Valley residents to find out more at its general meeting,
Saturday, Feb. 19 at 10 a.m..
Ms.
Cordy is a senior hydrologist with the USGS. She has been project chief
for Central Arizona Basins National Water-Quality Assessment Program
for the past 10 years. Her presentation is titled "Pharmaceuticals,
pathogens, and organic compounds in Arizona’s effluent... cause for
concern?"
The
meeting will be held at the Greenway Studio, at Dead Horse Ranch State
Park. Refreshments will be available from 9:30 a.m. For those attending
for the first time please ask for directions at the main gate.
The
Verde River Citizens Alliance is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to
