Presentation by Winn Hjalmarson December, 17, 2005 at the Dead Horse State Park-Greenway Studio 10:00am. (December Monthly meeting-Holiday brunch and roast) Retired U.S. Geological Survey Engineer-Geologist-Hydrologist Winn Hjalmarson of Camp Verde who co-wrote an open file USGS report entitled Sources of springs supplying base flow to the Verde River headwaters, Yavapai County, Arizona. The report can be downloaded at: http://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1999/ofr-99-0378/ Since retirement Hjalmarson is an independent consulting hydrologist. He has taught at the University of Arizona as an adjunct professor and served on a committee for the National Research Council. He has 40 years experience with the hydrology of arid lands and fluvial processes. His personal feelings about the Verde River were formed as a child at the magnificent view of the Verde Valley from the rim of Mingus Mountain where his family cabin has been located since 1923. He is co-author of the USGS publication Sources of Springs Supplying Base Flow to the Verde River Headwaters, Yavapai County, Arizona. The meeting was held at Dead Horse Ranch State Park.
