Presentation by Winn Hjalmarson December, 17, 2005 at the Dead Horse State Park-Greenway Studio 10:00am. (December Monthly meeting-Holiday brunch and roast)

Retired U.S. Geological Survey Engineer-Geologist-Hydrologist Winn Hjalmarson of Camp Verde who co-wrote an open file USGS report entitled Sources of springs supplying base flow to the Verde River headwaters, Yavapai County, Arizona. The report can be downloaded at:

http://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1999/ofr-99-0378/

Since retirement Hjalmarson is an independent consulting hydrologist. He has taught at the University of Arizona as an adjunct professor and served on a committee for the National Research Council. He has 40 years experience with the hydrology of arid lands and fluvial processes. His personal feelings about the Verde River were formed as a child at the magnificent view of the Verde Valley from the rim of Mingus Mountain where his family cabin has been located since 1923.

He is co-author of the USGS publication Sources of Springs Supplying Base Flow to the Verde River Headwaters, Yavapai County, Arizona. The meeting was held at Dead Horse Ranch State Park.

Our Mission

The Verde River Citizens Alliance promotes and encourages a sense of social responsibility in all members that will lead to the preservation and continued health of the Verde River and its watershed.

We accomplish this goal through advocacy, outreach, education, riparian projects, hikes, and exciting "hands-on" activities.
