February 15, 2003 General Meeting

VRCA members found out what they could do to help protect the Verde River at the Verde River Citizens Alliance February meeting.

The VRCA learned about the natural cycles that drive life in the Verde Valley wetlands. Jan Allbright gave a presentation entitled "How Wetlands Work -a Look at Nutrient Cycling, the Jerome Constructed Wetlands and Peck's Lake - Tavasci Marsh." Mr. Allbright will show how natural cycles impact the life and water quality of our rivers and lakes, how we impact them, and how these cycles can be harnessed to provide us with a never ending supply of clean water. Members of the audience were entertained by becoming Nitrogen Atoms voyaging through the nutrient cycle!

Both of these files take a while to download, but they're well worth the time!
