VRCA CIVIC AWARDS FOR 2007
Every year the Verde River Citizens Alliance honors those individuals who, in
the judgement of the Executive Board, have made an outstanding contribution
to the preservation of the Verde River.
Joanna Dodder, Journalist. Prior to joining the Prescott Daily Courier in 1997, Joanna served as editor of The Ruidoso (NM) News, environmental reporter at the Steamboat (CO) Pilot and editor of the New London (Iowa) Journal. She has received numerous state and national awards for her journalism.Articles of the highest quality in the Prescott Daily Courier, Camp Verde Bugle and Verde Independent dealing with the Verde Watershed.
Tony Gioia, Mayor of Camp Verde (2004-present). Camp Verde Councilman (1998- ) Co-Chair Yavapai County WAC (Water Advisory Committee) (1999-2004).
Michelle Harrington, Rivers Conservation
Manager, Center for Biological Diversity.
Leader of “Save the Verde” Campaign. Volunteer and employee of CBD (1999- )
Bill Meyer, USGS (1960-l999). Head of
